My Story
Dream it.
It all begins with an idea. My teaching philosophy is to inspire my students to set goals that will make a positive difference in the world. I offered opportunities to experience the role that they could play by engaging in community activism, participating in local government and beyond.
Make it.
Nine years ago, I left a successful law career to become a teacher. I spent the subsequent 8 years teaching AP government and economics at a racially and economically diverse high school in Phoenix, Arizona. During my tenure at Glendale High School, I was nominated to serve as chair of the social studies department, honored as teacher-of-the-year by my peers and selected to grade the AP Gov't examination on behalf of the College Board. Over the past decade, I have tutored hundreds of students in English and social studies. I am currently licensed in Arizona and Oregon to teach English language arts and social studies.
During the years spanning my law and teaching careers, my wife and I raised two children and instilled in them a love of reading and learning. Our adult children have successful professional careers as a physician and an attorney. We followed our daughter and her family to Portland, Oregon in July 2019 when our son-in-law started a new job at OHSU.
Do it.
It all begins with an idea. Until 2021, I worked for the College Board during the summer as an AP essay scorer (grader). I’ll do whatever it takes to make learning a positive experience for the student.
