My Philosophy

In my experience, not all students learn in the same way or at the same rate, but all can be successful.  To tutor effectively, one must assess their academic and learning needs in order to develop an effective instructional approach.  I am particularly skilled at this, having spent my teaching career creating lessons and instructional methods that motivate, challenge, and inspire students.

Options

I am available to tutor middle school and high school students individually (privately), or in small groups (pods), online or in person (with reasonable and appropriate Covid precautions), in all areas of English: writing, grammar, reading and literature, and all areas of social studies: world history, U.S. history, government, economics and political science. In addition, I am able to tutor in middle-school math and science. These services may include: essay composition, editing personal statements, quiz and test preparation, PSAT/SAT/AP exam preparation, development of note-taking, study and organizational skills, assistance with homework and research projects, and finally academic enrichment (supplemental studies).

Fees

My fees are $40 per session (50 minutes) for online private tutoring, $55 per session for groups of two, and $65 per session for groups of three.  For in-person tutoring when the one-way travel distance exceeds 10 minutes (about three miles), an additional fee may be required. I offer a free 30-minute on-line assessment using either Zoom or Google Meet.
